Sevilla vs Arsenal LIVE stream: Champions League latest score and updates as Thomas Partey not in squad

Ramsdale back in Arsenal training before UCL trip to Sevilla

Arsenal seemed to be in control of Group B following a convincing win over PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League opener but a shock 2-1 defeat to Lens at the start of October has left them with work to do to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

Tonight they travel to Spain for the first of two consecutive matches against Sevilla which could determine whether Mikel Arteta’s side reach the next stage of the competition or not.

The Europa League champions have two points from their opening two games but should they defeat the Gunners in Spain and at the Emirates, Arteta’s side will be on the brink of an early exit.

Sevilla’s head coach, Diego Alonso, replaced Jose Luis Mendilibar during the international break due to Sevilla’s poor domestic record this year and earned his team a 1-1 home draw against Real Madrid on Saturday. Can he cause a similar upset against Arsenal this evening?

Arteta on young players taking on leadership roles

Mikel Arteta was asked about how important it is that young players like Bukayo Saka take on leadership roles within the Arsenal squad and he replied:

“I think is really important for them because the role that they have in our way of playing, in our team and in our club has to be mirrored with the leadership level that they should have around the team to make it grow.

“I think it’s been a perfect environment; we have a really good mixture of players, teams and experiences in that group and it’s going to be a really valuable time to spend with those guys to understand what happens behind the scenes as well.”

Mikel Arteta pinpoints moment Arsenal made ‘phenomenal’ response at Chelsea

Mikel Arteta praised a “phenomenal” response from Arsenal after they fought back from two goals down in the final 13 minutes to earn a 2-2 draw at Chelsea and move level on points at the top of the Premier League.

Chelsea looked to be sending Arsenal to a first league defeat of the season when Mykhailo Mudryk’s cross-shot put them into a 2-0 lead minutes after half-time, the Ukrainian’s effort drifting over goalkeeper David Raya who was unable to recover from a poor starting position as the ball dropped into the goal.

That added to the lead given to them by a first-half penalty from Cole Palmer, increasingly influential in Pochettino’s revitalised attack following his move from Manchester City, who slotted home after William Saliba was adjudged to have handled from Mudryk’s header.
