Joe Jonas filed for divorce from Sophie Turner on Tuesday after four years of marriage and two children.
The 34-year-old Jonas Brothers singer filed a lawsuit to end his marriage to the 27-year-old Game of Thrones star and X-Men actor in Miami-Dade County Court in Florida.
The file states: “The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
Turner and Jonas wed in a secret ceremony at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019, following the Billboard Music Awards. Country duo Dan + Shay performed at the wedding.
The couple welcomed a daughter, Willa, in 2020 and another daughter last year whose names they haven't released.
According to the divorce documents, Jonas is seeking joint custody of the girls. The two had a prenuptial agreement, which Jonas expects to be enforced, the filing says.
Representatives for Jonas and Turner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The couple have said in interviews that mutual friends had long been meaning to introduce them when they struck up a conversation via Instagram direct messages in 2016. They met face-to-face in October of the same year and were exclusively dating by December. In October 2017, they announced their engagement.
Turner, who is from Northampton, England, played Sansa Stark on the HBO series Game of Thrones for eight seasons and played Jean Gray in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019).
Arizona-born Jonas rose to fame alongside brothers Nick and Kevin in a band and later Disney Channel series starting in 2005. They released their sixth studio album in May and are currently touring US stadiums.
