Apple may stick with 60Hz display for iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus

The iPhone 15 series has been almost out of the market for two months now, but many rumors about next year's iPhone 16 series have already started circulating online. Now, rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro models will bring larger screens. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to have a 6.27-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could pack a 6.86-inch display. Meanwhile, Apple is said to have a 60Hz display on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models similar to their iPhone 15 counterparts. Pro variants can get a 120Hz display.

new post South Korean blog Naver claims that Apple could pack a 6.27-inch display on the iPhone 16 Pro and a 6.86-inch display on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Pro models can use a 120Hz display based on Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) technology.

In contrast, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models retain 6.12-inch and 6.69-inch displays with a 60Hz refresh rate, respectively, the same size and refresh rate as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. This year's iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro feature 6.1-inch OLED displays, while the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature larger 6.7-inch OLED displays. Both iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models support ProMotion with refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The vanilla and Plus models of the iPhone 16 family are still capable of 60Hz LTPO displays. In addition, all models in the line are expected to have a dynamic island.

The new leak is in line with what DSCC analyst Ross Young reported earlier in May. According to Young, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models that will be released in 2024 will have screen sizes of around 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. He believes that the regular models will keep the 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens. Famous tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) also approved This opportunity.
