The distinctive deep purple color is no coincidence. Nestled in the high-altitude city of Nyingchi, the apples are exposed to intense ultraviolet light during the day, while the temperature fluctuations between warm days and cool nights contribute to their unique appearance.

Unlike common apple trees, which only take two to three years to mature, the black diamond apple requires patience. It requires a long period of eight years to reach maturity, coupled with the challenges presented by the steep mountains in which it thrives.

The high maintenance costs associated with growing this variant further limit its spread among locals. However, not every apple makes it – strict quality control measures ensure that only the best Black Diamond apples reach the market.

X users commented, “I want to try this precious black diamond one day,” while a second user wrote, “I love this one. The color is very, very, very amazing,” and a third user replied: “The blacker the apple, the sweeter the juice.”
