Airtel partners with IntelliSmart to power smart meters in India – Times of India

Bharti Aertel (Airtel) has announced that it has formed a strategic partnership IntelliSmart Infrastructure Private Limited to power up to 20 million smart meters across the country.
This partnership also marks Airtel's foray into high-end applications such as Advance Metering Infrastructure and Meter Data Management Systems with Cloud and Analytics. According to Airtel, the move will significantly support Airtel's rapidly growing IoT adoption across sectors.
Airtel's IoT proposition includes its proprietary platform ‘Airtel IoT Hub', which will help utilities track and monitor these smart meters with advanced analytics, while maintaining extremely high reliability with enhanced telephony security.
Airtel's new service is hosted on the company's own cloud network and the IoT hub will enable enterprise users to connect and manage billions of devices and applications in a highly secure and seamless manner.
Airtel wants to play a major role in the government's smart meter initiative
The Indian government has a vision of replacing 250 million conventional meters with smart meters over the next five years as part of the AMI initiative. According to Airtel, it aims to play a pivotal role in enabling this vision of the government with its unique capabilities.

IoT is one of the fastest growing business segments of Airtel Business and, with this deal, we are now strategically positioned to play a critical role in driving government. India's vision to digitize 250 million conventional meters to smart meters. As we connect devices across the country on our platform, we will exponentially grow our current IoT market share of 55.4% (as on quarter FY23-24).
