Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon X Elite CPUs for PCs, Rivals to Apple’s M Series Chipsets – Times of India

Last year, Qualcomm showed off its Oryon CPU during the Snapdragon Summit. The CPU was meant to offer the best computing performance for computers. The company has finally unveiled its new computer processor – the Snapdragon X Elite with the all-new Oryon CPU.
The company's new computing processor comes with on-device AI inference and is also said to be the most efficient processor for PCs for multi-day battery life. The company claims that the Snapdragon X Elite is designed to support intelligent and power-intensive tasks, enabling powerful productivity, rich creativity and entertainment experiences on the go.

Snapdragon X: Features
The Snapdragon X Elite is based on a 4nm System-on-a-Chip architecture equipped with a 12-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU, where all 12 of them are clocked at 3.8GHz with a dual-core boost up to 4.3GHz. It supports LPDDR5x memory with 136 GB/s memory bandwidth and 42 MB total cache.
The company claims the chip offers about 2x faster processing than a 10-core laptop CPU and consumes only a third of the power. It also comes with Adreno GPU for graphics processing.
Qualcomm has also included its best AI feature as well. It comes with the Qualcomm AI Engine integrated Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which enables it to run generative AI LLM models with more than 12 billion parameters on the device. The processor also includes a micro NPU in the Qualcomm Sensing Hub for enhanced security, login experience and privacy, including the ability to wake devices from sleep mode.
The Snapdragon X Elite is also supported by intelligent security features that help protect your PC from the chip to the cloud, including the Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit powered by Microsoft Pluton.
